When paddling the Horsetooth Reservoir I am always looking for some traces of the past: old roads, fences, building foundation, sandstone quarries. I had a great time when the reservoir was drained a few years ago. You can see some 2002 pictures at Mountain Wayfarer. Paddling on the Horsetooth "river" was interesting too. Yesterday, I enjoyed a short workout in windy conditions with my Thunderbolt kayak starting at Inlet Bay and going to north to the Quarry Cove where I had a longer photo session. I found an old barbed wire fence. Rocks were used to anchor that fence and it was tied to a huge boulder under a sandstone cliff. read more » |
April 2007: I continued paddling my Thunderbolt-x kayak mostly on the Horsetooth Reservoir. The post 10 Tips How to Avoid Blurry Pictures when Shooting on Water written a year ago has been quite popular. It is also worth to check pictures by Bjrn Olin if you haven't seen them yet. 04/04/2007: Ez-Vee Roof Racks from Kayak Pro - Review 04/06/2007: Anybody Remembers C1 Canoe Racing on the South Platte River near Greeley? read more »

"BARRY AND JUSTINE BEING FED UP BY ROB AND THE BOYS IN FJORDLAND"
I never learn. I can still remember paddling almost non-stop for 11 hours up the West coast, not able to entirely relax the whole day because I'm anxious about what the surf will be like when we land, head down and teeth gritted as we slog into a bit of a headwind, doing the maths and working out I had to keep on taking the same repetitive paddling motion for another 7 hours before I could get off the water. I turned to Barry and said, "I don't want to do this again. I've had enough of paddling on a mission". read more »
I am getting a lot of questions from readers of this blog concerning waterproof cameras and camcorders, camera mounts and paddling photography. I am trying to answer them directly or with the aid of new posts. I apologize for questions which remain without answer. Please keep in mind that my personal experience with digital cameras is limited to Pentax Optio W-line (WP, W10, W30) and Canon DLSR cameras (10D, 40D). My first digital camera was Canon Powershot S40 in a waterpoof case. I also own Canon Optura Xi camcorder and a bullet cam, but I haven't used them much since starting to play with Pentax Optio cameras. Jeff Potter from Out Your Backdoor sent me some questions concerning Pentax Optio W30 camera. read more »
